The Butts Primary School

Music Lessons

As part of our music curriculum, pupils in Year 4 take part in a ‘Listen2Me’ programme, provided by the Hampshire Music Service. Children learn a variety of instruments in a whole class setting, such as keyboard, ukelele, samba drums and violin. The instrument changes on a termly basis.

In addition to our class music curriculum, The Butts Primary School is able to provide peripatetic music tuition for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 through Hampshire Music Service. Children are taught mostly in small groups, promoting ensemble skills which can prepare them for joining a band or orchestra should they so wish. Lessons can be provided in brass, woodwind, strings and guitar. An annual charge applies, which can be paid either in one amount at the start of the academic year or in termly instalments. Instruments are available to hire through Hampshire Music Service, so there is no need to purchase any instruments if you do not wish to. Parents and pupils must commit to music lessons for the whole academic year.

If you are interested in signing your child up for peripatetic music tuition, please contact the School Office for more information.
